Rio de Janeiro is a huge seaside city in Brazil, famed for its Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, 38m Christ the Redeemer statue atop Mount Corcovado and for Sugarloaf Mountain, a granite peak with cable cars to its summit. Known for many tourist attractions, Parça do Gandhi is definitely one of them.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was an Indian activist who was the leader of the Indian independence movement against British rule. Employing nonviolent civil disobedience, Gandhi led India to independence and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world. The world community had recognized his birth anniversary ‘October 2nd’ as ‘the International Day of Non-Violence’ in 2007. His legacy is well honoured.
